Attention parents who may have children riding motorized scooters, mo-peds, or 4-wheelers on Backwater Road:
Recently I have had two instances where young children were riding disregarding safety procedures. Today, Saturday Oct. 30th, a very young boy riding a motorized scooter rode directly in front of my car without hesitating to look for traffic. Fortunately, I was able to brake to avoid hitting him AND I was driving below the speed limit.
Several weeks ago two boys were riding east in the east bound lane and crossed over to the west bound lane driving east. A car traveling west over a hill had to completely stop to avoid hitting the boys.
Please keep these children safe and off the roads.
