Sara M. RhodesNORTH WEBSTER – Sara M. Rhodes, 91, of Warsaw, passed away at 12:12 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2020, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse.
She was born on April 17, 1929, in Albion, to Gloyd and Bessie Mable Hockenbarger Gaff.
She graduated in 1947 from Albion High School and attended college in Nebraska for a few years. She was married on Nov. 22, 1952, in Kendallville, to Norman W. “Dick” Rhodes, who preceded Jan. 22, 2020. She grew up in Albion, lived most of her life in the North Webster/Warsaw area except for a brief time in Waynedale. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at Sears in Fort Wayne, Chicago and Kendallville for several years, Mutual Bank in North Webster and Pletcher Foods in Pierceton.
She formerly attended the United Methodist Church in North Webster.
She is survived by four sons: John Rhodes, of Canton, Ohio; Jeff (Kelly) Rhodes, of Brookston; Jerry (Elizabeth) Rhodes, of Canton, Ohio; and Jay (Stacy) Rhodes, of North Webster; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her parents; husband; and two brothers, John and Bert Gaff.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. Ind. 15, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 18 at Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 & CR 500N, North Webster. Memorial services will follow on Saturday, July 18 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Deanna Strombeck officiating.
