PLYMOUTH – Sandra R. King, 48, passed away Dec. 2, 2014, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw, after a second courageous battle with cancer.
She was born April 29, 1966, in Bremen, to Anthony R. and Shirley A. Schaetzle King.
She graduated from Triton High School with the class of 1984. She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Ancilla College. She worked for Michiana Behavioral Health Center, Plymouth, until she was unable due to the cancer.
She loved fishing, antiquing and her dog, Nelson. She could always be found at Goodwill shopping and finding great deals. When she had the chance for vacation, she would travel to Florida and enjoy having her feet in the sand. She cherished time with her family and adored her grandchildren. She never met a person who did not love her, and she was a “mom” to many of her son Ryan’s friends and a mentor to children at the Behavioral Health Center.
Surviving are her son, Ryan A. (and spouse Casie) Shanyfelt, Plymouth; two grandchildren, Caden and Olivia; her mother and stepfather, Shirley (and spouse Ron) Batty, Bourbon; four siblings: Gerri and Jay (and spouse Kelly) King, all of Bourbon; Jeffery (and spouse Kim) King, Warsaw; Beth (and spouse John) Shaw, Lafayette; a stepsister, Jessica (and spouse Scott) Thomson, Chicago; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and her ex-husband, Alan Shanyfelt.
A celebration of life will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday at the Christo’s Banquet Center, Plymouth.
