Salvation Army Expecting Increase In Food Requests; Asks For Donations

Posted
The Salvation Army of Kosciusko County is preparing for increased requests for services, especially for food from the Choice Pantry, as schools and businesses are closing or reducing hours due to response from the spread of COVID-19.

“We always see an increase in requests when there are breaks or during the summer and children are not in school,” said Envoy Ken Locke, administrator. “We are not closing our office and want to be available to provide assistance.”

The Choice Pantry is open Monday to Friday, 9 to 11:30 a.m.

“All we ask is that one person who is not ill comes to our center at 501 E. Arthur St. in Warsaw, “ Locke continued. “Calls can also be made to our office at 574-267-5361 to have someone else pick up food. The pantry guidelines are still being followed at this time.”

The Salvation Army serves, on average, about 250 to 300 households per month.  Items especially appreciated are cereal, canned meats, laundry and hand soap, paper towels and toilet paper. They can be dropped off Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.

Monetary donations to purchase items may be sent to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1257, Warsaw, IN 46580. For more information or to make a credit or debit card donation, go to www.sawarsaw.org.
