Ruth H. Cripe, 94, formerly of rural Silver Lake, died Oct. 3, 2009, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
She was born Jan. 24, 1915, in Lake Township, to Mark E. and Alma Metzger Miller. On Feb. 16, 1937, she married Guy E. Cripe, who died Jan. 14, 2007.
She was a homemaker and worked at Timbercrest Senior Living Community, North Manchester, for 12 years. She was a member of Timbercrest Auxiliary and West Eel River Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake, and a lifetime member of the former West Manchester Church of the Brethren, where she was active in the Ladies Aid and she and her husband served as deacon and deaconess. She graduated from Silver Lake High School in1933.
Surviving are a son, Stanley (and spouse Sharon) Cripe, North Manchester; two daughters, Diane (and spouse Larry) Miller, North Manchester, and Carlene Cripe, Winona Lake; five grandchildren: Heath (and spouse Jennifer) Miller and Derek Miller, all of North Manchester; Blake (and spouse Kim) Miller, Akron; Scott (and spouse Tracie) Cripe, Silver Lake; and Kelly (and spouse John) Vaughn, Gwinn, Mich.; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. today at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with the Rev. Jack Carey officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester.
