Ruth Gale Hudson, of Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, at 1:47 a.m. at Grace Village Healthcare at the age of 83.

She was born on Feb. 10, 1937, in Chicago, to Ira and Verna Compton Bourland. On Sept. 27, 1958, she was married to Earl Byron Hudson. They raised three children and shared 51 years of marriage together before he passed away on Aug. 24, 2010.

Ruth attended two years at North Park College in Chicago and for many years thereafter she worked as a typist, secretary, doing everything clerical in Chicago. She also worked for UOP in Des Plaines, Ill. She had a love for music and was quite talented at playing the double bass in the Youth Orchestra of Greater Chicago and played piano for the church choir. Ruth played string bass for a singing group called His People while she lived in Chicago. She and her husband, Earl, enjoyed providing church services for nursing homes as a ministry. Ruth moved to Warsaw in 1999 prior to moving into Grace Village Retirement Community in her later years. Ruth enjoyed being a member of Pleasant View Bible Church of Warsaw. One of her favorite pastimes was sending cards and words of encouragement to missionaries through Pleasant View Bible Church. She also enjoyed playing in the Grace Village chime choir and working with the Samaritan's Purse shoebox ministry.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

She leaves behind her daughter, Lisa (Christian) Goble, Culver; two sons: Lowell (Beverly) Hudson, Winona Lake; and Lane David (Donna) Hudson, Des Plaines, Ill.; six grandchildren; and her sister, Helen (Don) Thill, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her granddaughter, Jennifer; two brothers: Ira and Lee; and her sister, Alibeth.

Ruth will be laid to rest with her husband, Earl, at Mount Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst, Ill., at a later date.

Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.

The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Grace Village who treated Ruth with compassion and kindness throughout the challenges of the preceding months and especially in her last days.
