NORTH MANCHESTER – Ruth Eleanor Winger, 86, of North Manchester, died at 3:10 a.m. Dec. 9, 2012, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester. She was born Sept. 10, 1926, in Miami County, to Bruce C. and Mildred L. Barnett Meyer. On Nov. 19, 1944, she married John W. Winger Jr., who died June 28, 2001. She worked at Heckman Bindery, Peabody Seating Co. for five years and Tri-Wic for five years. She was a homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of Eel River Community Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake, and for many years was a member of the former West Manchester Church of the Brethren. She was a member of Xi Iota Xi and a former member of Kenopocomo Home Economics Club and Business & Professional Womens Club. She graduated Chester High School in 1944. Surviving are a son, Bill (and spouse Linda) Winger, North Manchester; a daughter, Peggy (and spouse Larry) Herendeen, North Manchester; a sister, Rosemary Lynch, Silver Lake; five grandchildren: Julie (and spouse Jeff) Curtis, John Winger, Jim (and spouse Heather) Winger, Shelly (and spouse David) Strobel, Brent (and spouse Lora) Herendeen; four great-grandchildren: Caitlynn and Grant Strobel and Samuel and Emmaline Winger. She was preceded in death by a sister. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114W, North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
