Ruth Burns, 84, of 261 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, died at 8:28 p.m. May 21, 2009, in Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake.

She was born Feb. 24, 1925, in Philadelphia, Pa., to William J. and Elizabeth A. Bubeck Dietz. On March 31, 1945, in Philadelphia, she married Ralph Samuel Burns, who survives.

She lived in Kosciusko County for the past 39 years and was a homemaker. She was a member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church and served as a pastor's wife for 40 years in Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Indiana.

Also surviving are a son, Ronald David (and spouse Krista) Burns, Warsaw; a daughter, Rebecca (and spouse Daniel) Gehrke, Warsaw; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church with Pastors Bruce Barlow, Bob Divine and Glenn Byers officiating. A private graveside service will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw.
