MENTONE - Rusty A. Rowland, 55, of 6667 S. Beaver Dam Road, Claypool, died the morning of June 6, 2010, in his residence.
He was born Nov. 2, 1954, in Warsaw, to Russell A. "Dean" and Mary Garber Rowland. On April 9, 1983, in Burket, he married Dawn May, who survives.
He owned and operated Rowland Construction. He formerly worked for Secrist Builders and Dick Woods Builders. He graduated from Mentone High School in 1973. He was a member of Gold Prospectors Association. He was an avid race fan, loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and all animals.
Also surviving are his mother, Mary Rowland, Burket; two daughters, Brandy Meerzo (and boyfriend Travis Elett), Fort Wayne, and Tina (and spouse Joey) Francis, Mentone; three grandchildren, Jaden and Délani Meerzo and Kade Russell Francis; two sisters, Deana (and spouse Garlie) Webb and Elaine Seeley, all of Burket; a brother, Roger (and spouse Sandy) Rowland, Arizona; and his mother-in-law, Esther May, Claypool. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Terry Rowland.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Doug Lemon officiating. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
