Roy W. Carlile, 82, of 322 S. McKinley St., Warsaw, died at 9:50 p.m. Sept. 24, 2007, in Mason Health And Rehab, Warsaw.

He was born Oct. 28, 1924, in Jasper County, to Morris and Hazel Hicks Carlile. On Nov. 5, 1977, in Warsaw, he married Darlene Walters, who survives.

A lifetime Warsaw resident, he was a jail officer at the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Dept., retiring in 1990. He formerly worked at Bertsch Vending. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a life member and past commander of American Legion Post 49, and a life member of Voyager 833 40&8, Veterans of Foreign Wars 1126, Warsaw, and American Legion Post 49 Honor Guard. He was a member of Moose Lodge 1423; Warsaw Lodge 73 F&AM; Fort Wayne Valley Scottish Rite; and Mizpah Shrine Temple, Fort Wayne.

Also surviving are a daughter, Lea Ann Tice, Atlantic Beach, Fla.; two stepsons, Mike (and wife Kathy) Jenkins, Lee Summit, Mo., and David (and wife Vanessa) Jenkins, Decatur; a stepdaughter, Mrs. David (Sharon) Poe, Pierceton; two sisters, Evelyn Walker, Rochester, and Mrs. Eugene (Lois) Ford, San Diego, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Hoffer; a grandson, Kyle Griffin; and a granddaughter, Grace Poe.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Chaplain Tom Everett of American Legion Post 49 officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors by members of American Legion and VFW.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with a Masonic memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
