AKRON - Roy Lee Saner, 76, of 7701 W. Camabraw Park Lane, Rock Lake, Akron, died at 6:30 a.m. March 21, 2008, at Woodlawn Hospital Emergency Room, Rochester.

He was born Nov. 13, 1931, in Rock Lake, Akron, to Homer C. and Ferrell Schindler Saner. On June 13, 1952, in Claypool, he married Marilyn A. Lockridge, who survives.

He owned and operated a well-drilling business for 42 years. He was a member of the West Eel River Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War, and was a 1951 graduate of Akron High School.

Also surviving are two daughters, Melanie (and spouse Ray) Hollett, Warsaw, and Marilee (and spouse Terrence) Wires, Nappanee; three sons: Jim (and spouse Jan) Saner, Mike (and spouse Mary) Saner, and Mark Saner, all of Akron; 13 grandchildren: Missy, Kristen, Jayme, Amy, David, Rachael, Daniel, Nathaniel, Brooke, Megan, Brandt, Marcus and Leigh; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Fred (and spouse Willodene) Saner, Warsaw, and Charles (and spouse Lily) Saner, Warren; two sisters-in-law: Kay Saner, Indianapolis, and Doris Saner, Akron. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lloyd and Bob Saner; a sister-in-law, Faye Saner; and one grandson-in-law, Nicholas Patterson.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. Burial will be at Akron Cemetery, where the Leroy Shelton American Legion Post 36 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1343, both of Rochester, will conduct graveside military rites.

Calling is 3-8 p.m. Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home.
