Roy Alan Johnson, 57, of Kendallville, died April 29, 2010, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, with his family at his side. He was ill for a week.

He was born Nov. 29, 1952, in Warsaw, to Billy and Sandra McPherson Johnson.

He lived in Kendallville for seven years, coming from Butler. He worked at Quik Tanks, Kendallville. He was a volunteer pack leader for Cub Scout Troop 3157, Kendallville, and attended Bridgeway Evangelical Church, Kendallville. He enjoyed fishing, camping and being outdoors, and loved to read.

Surviving are his mother, Sandra Johnson, Syracuse; a daughter, Amanda Johnson, Kendallville; a son, Christopher (and spouse Heather) Johnson, Warsaw; six grandchildren, Teryn Allen; Kristen, Kayla, Sarah and Samuel Johnson; and Caleb Hecke; two sisters, Kellie (and spouse Glenn) Laughlin, New Paris, and Jan Monnier, Warsaw; a brother, Bruce (and spouse Terrie) Johnson, Churubusco; and his significant other, Cindy Johnson, Kendallville. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Johnson, and a niece, Nicole Johnson.

A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Monday at Young Family Funeral Home, Chapel, 222 S. State St., Kendallville, with Pastor Jeff Wolheter of Bridgeway Evangelical Church officiating.

Calling is from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
