Roger D. Robinson, 74, Atwood, died at 5:45 p.m. Aug. 21, 2008, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

He was born Nov. 7, 1933, in Atwood, to Willard D. and Jessie M. Carpenter Robinson. On Sept. 19, 1953, in Atwood, he married Nellie Titus Robinson, who survives.

He was a lifetime Atwood resident and a 1952 Atwood High School graduate.

He began painting posts at the age of 14 for Creighton Brothers, then began gathering eggs in the chicken houses on weekends until his high school graduation. He retired in March 1996, spending the last 39 years in the feed mill. After retirement, he helped Mike and Dan Williamson with spring and fall farming, and assisted on many levels at Titus Funeral Home.

He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Atwood; Atwood Lions Club; Echoes from the Past tractor club, showing Allis Chalmers and Farmall tractors in shows and parades; past member of Warsaw Masonic Lodge 73 F & AM; Scottish Rite, Fort Wayne; Mizpah Shrine of Fort Wayne; and was a Boy Scout leader in his younger days.

He was a woodworker who took pride in building a variety of pieces, including furniture. He collected Snow Babies, Hopi Indian carvings and coins, enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and yard; was an avid fan of high school volleyball and basketball; and was a Civil War buff.

As a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and member of the Titus Funeral Home staff, Roger was deeply loved and respected. He will be greatly missed.

Also surviving are a daughter, Aimee A. (and spouse Dennis) Kessie, Cheyenne, Wyo.; two sons, Jay M. (and spouse Lana) Robinson, Tucson, Ariz., and Kirk B. (and spouse Kim) Robinson, Akron; eight grandchildren: Angela (and spouse Chad) Gebert, Andrew Robinson, Emily (and spouse Kirk) Proctor, Kyle (and spouse Megan) Robinson, Kara Robinson, Alexandra (and spouse Jordan) Jesse, Mason Kessie, Wyatt Kessie; five great-grandchildren: Carl Hartwell III, Chloe Gebert, Cassandra Gebert, Bryce Proctor, Aubrey Proctor; a sister, Donna Jane (and spouse Jim) Truex, Warsaw; and a brother, Glen D. Robinson, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Robinson, who died April 5, 1983, and Jessie Robinson, who died April 27, 2001; and a grandson, James Popenfoose, who died Dec. 26, 1996.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with the Rev. Jerry Thomas of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Atwood, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
