Rochester Man Killed On U.S. 30 From Being Hit By Semi

Posted

A Rochester man was killed Monday night when he was hit by a semi-tractor-trailer while trying to retrieve cargo that had fallen out of his pickup truck.
According to a news release from the Warsaw Police Department, at about 6:29 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, emergency personnel were dispatched to the westbound lanes of U.S. 30 at Meijer Drive for a collision. WPD officers arrived shortly thereafter and discovered the deceased body of Randy Williams, 69, Rochester.
The preliminary results of the ongoing investigation indicate Williams was outside of his Ford F150 to retrieve and secure cargo that had fallen from the bed of his pickup truck, the release states. Williams’ vehicle was parked on the shoulder and was not on the travel portion of U.S. 30. As he was roadside, Williams was struck by a 2022 Kenworth T680 tractor-trailer driven by Amrinder Singh, 30, of Milwaukee, Wis.
Kosciusko County Coroner Tyler Huffer determined Williams’ cause of death to be blunt force trauma. The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Fatal Team was requested for reconstruction. A commercial motor vehicle inspection was conducted by the Indiana State Police.
Singh did not suffer any injuries.
Responding agencies included the WPD, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, Lutheran EMS, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Kosciusko County Coroner and Indiana State Police.
