VINCENNES – Robert L. Beeson, 81, died at 1:05 p.m. Dec. 6, 2012, in Good Samaritan Hospital.
He was born April 29, 1931, in Hartford City, to Cecil E. Sr. and Hannah Catherine Sills Beeson. On April 24, 1955, he married Donna D. Farr of Vincennes. She survives.
He was a Korean War veteran, serving from 1951-55 in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman. He graduated from Ball State University and worked in various quality control positions. After moving to Vincennes and earning his master’s degree from Indiana State University, he taught anatomy and physiology at Vincennes University from 1970-96.
A member of the local Lions Club for many years, he also served on the board of directors, Indiana Lions Eye Bank, becoming chairman of that board 1983-85 and 1990-92. He received training to do eye enucleations and served in that capacity for several years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 73, Vincennes.
Also surviving are a daughter, Lynelle D. (and spouse Douglas) Vogel, Winona Lake; a son, Duane L. (and spouse Aletha) Beeson, Orange City, Iowa; grandchildren: Caleb, Marisa and Miriam Vogel and Malea, Jenna and Analise Beeson; two half brothers, Cecil E. Beeson Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio, and Daniel H. Bockover, Anderson; and two half sisters, Jennie P. Beeson Hiam, Evansville, and Betty L. Bockover Marshall, Bluffton. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepparents; a brother, Richard H. Beeson; and a half brother, William D. Bockover.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, with the Rev. Doug Vogel officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
