FORT WAYNE - Robert D. "Bob" Paxson, 89, died Jan. 18, 2010, in The Cedars, Leo.

He was born in Kingston, Pa. His wife, Dorothy Paxson, preceded him in death.

He was a teacher for 38 years, with the majority of that time spent at J.E. Ober Elementary, Garrett. He was a member of Harvester Missionary Church, where he was treasurer for 21 years. He also enjoyed playing the trumpet and singing in the choir and on the tower of Strength radio program. He was also a member of the National Audubon Society and the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society.

Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn (and spouse Wayne) Allen, Fort Wayne, and Lois Jump, Warsaw; four grandchildren: Joshua, Caleb, Jonathan and Jennifer; two great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rachel Marie Amstutz; a son-in-law, Rollin Jump; two brothers; and two sisters.

Service will be at 3 p.m. today at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne. Entombment will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.

Calling is two hours prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home. There will be no committal service.
