MENTONE - Robert D. "Bob" Flenar, 82, of 12427 W. Ind., 25, Mentone, died at 5:45 a.m. March 9, 2011, in his residence.
He was born Oct. 14, 1928, in Mentone, to Seth H. and Mildred E. Robbins Flenar. On July 26, 1947, in Mentone, he married Ellen Lee Kesler, who survives.
He had worked for Cargill Inc. at the Mentone Feed Division Plant, and prior to that worked at Dirck Manufacturing, Warsaw, for 15 years. He was a member of Mentone Church of Christ and a former member of Highland Hills Golf Course. He was a 1946 Mentone High School graduate. He and his wife were avid Tippecanoe Valley sports fans being especially interested in the basketball program.
Also surviving are two daughters, Diane (and spouse Lanny) Idle, South Whitley, and Lynn (and spouse Roger) Bucher, Fort Wayne; two sons, Brett (and spouse Valerie) Flenar, Akron, and Dan (and spouse Sherry) Flenar, Columbia City; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris (and spouse Leslie) Grubbs, Bourbon; and two brothers, Max (and spouse Linda) Flenar and Kay (and spouse Sue) Flenar, all of Etna Green. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Don, Larry and Jerry Flenar.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Billy Steele officiating. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
