Robert C. Schlag, 90, of 1630 S. County Farm Road, Warsaw, died at 4:22 a.m. Oct. 29, 2009, in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.
He was born Jan. 6, 1919, in Chicago, Ill., to Robert Herman and Mary Rubenhagen Schlag. On June 27, 1942, in Crystal Lake, Ill., he married Vira Sloper, who survives in Warsaw.
A resident of Kosciusko County for the past 50 years, he served in the U.S. Army, enlisting in March 1943. He was a bombardier navigator until his honorable discharge in 1944. He came to Warsaw in 1959 and was transferred in with R.R. Donnelley & Sons, Warsaw, where he worked as a printer and engineer until his retirement in 1974. After retirement he worked as a realtor as well as remodeling homes.
Also surviving are a son, Bob (and spouse Connie) Schlag, Warsaw; a daughter, Linda (and spouse Rick) Snodgrass, Warsaw; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
A memorial service was at 10 a.m. today at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Jack Worth officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
