MILFORD - Robert "Bob" J. Hurd, 82, of Milford, passed away Feb. 20, 2011, in Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare.
He was born Aug. 17, 1928, in Roann, to Dr. Eldon R. and Agnes Moore Hurd. On April 25, 1948, he married Eudora Grove, who survives.
He was a 1946 Milford High School graduate. He was a banker for First National Bank, Warsaw, for 10 years, spent 20 years in the oil business, worked at Chore-Time Brock and retired from Phend and Brown as a sales representative. He served on the Milford Volunteer Fire Dept. for 35 years and was a member of New Salem Church of the Brethren and Masonic Lodge 418.
Also surviving are a son, Gary Hurd, Milford; two daughters, Brenda (and spouse Joe) Baumgartner, Nappanee, and Rhonda (and spouse Dan) Dietsch, Fort Wayne; six grandchildren: Rachel (and spouse Dennie) Schrock, Elkhart; Ashley (and spouse Dustin) Kiefer, South Bend; Blair Baumgartner, Pasadena, Calif.; Jeffrey Baumgartner, Indianapolis; and Myra (and spouse Jonathan) Weber and Beth Ellen Dietsch, all of Fort Wayne; and a brother, John (and spouse Carol) Hurd, Milford. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Thomas Milton Hurd; and a daughter-in-law, Patrice Hurd.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mishler Funeral Home, Milford, with the Rev. Nelson Beer officiating. Burial will be in Milford Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
