Road Rage Incident Leads To Arrest

A road rage incident in April led to the arrest of a Syracuse man after he allegedly pointed a loaded gun at a woman.

Timothy James Cramer, 20, of 602 S. Manor Drive, Syracuse, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 9:36 p.m. April 20 for pointing a loaded firearm at a person and intimidation with a deadly weapon. His preliminary bond was set at $10,250.

Court documents filed Wednesday list the charges against Cramer as intimidation with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony; and two counts of pointing a firearm, level 6 felonies.

Problems began on April 20 when  Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputy Neil Likens responded to a complaint in regards to a man pointing a handgun at a woman in the vicinity of East Shore Drive and Cornelius Street, Syracuse.

When Likens arrived, Syracuse Police Officer Gary Clark had talked with the victim and the suspect, Cramer. Clark already had read Cramer his rights and Cramer had admitted pulling out his handgun and pointing it at the victim.

A witness said she was sitting in her vehicle at an intersection when she heard yelling coming from a nearby parking area. The witness saw a man walking toward a woman with a gun pointed at her.

Likens spoke with the victim who said she was following a white minivan with two men hanging out the window, screaming and flipping her off. The minivan pulled into a parking area so she followed it, exited her vehicle and walked toward the van to find out why they were screaming at her.

She said Cramer exited the van and pointed a handgun at her so she immediately fled and called 911.

Cramer had been riding in the backseat of the minivan, with another man driving and a female passenger.

Likens talked with Cramer who said the victim pulled her vehicle up next to the minivan and flipped them off. He said the victim followed them into a parking lot, exited her vehicle, walked toward them screaming and waving her hands.

Cramer said in an effort to get her to stop, he got out of the van, pulled his handgun and pointed it at her. Cramer told Likens he could tell the victim’s hands were empty.

Cramer was released from jail on $10,000 surety and $250 cash bonds. His initial hearing is set for 8:15 a.m. May 31 in Kosciusko County Superior Court I.
