NORTH MANCHESTER – Richard W. McKee, 83, Silver Lake, died at 9:50 p.m. Jan. 27, 2014, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
He was born Aug. 22, 1930, in North Manchester to Francis D. “Jake” and Mildred Michael McKee. On Oct. 15, 1955, he married Carol A. Schenkel, who survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Korean Conflict 1951-1955. He graduated from Central High School, North Manchester, in 1949. He was a production manager at Peabody Seating, North Manchester, for 34 years, and he retired in 1984. He was a member of Moose #1518 and the American Legion Post #286. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing and making people laugh, and he was an avid golfer.
Also surviving are a son, Tony (and spouse Cheryl) McKee, Dover, Del.; a daughter, Lori (and spouse Ralph Jr.) Dotson, Silver Lake; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Jack, Bobbie, Billie and Thomas.
Services will be at noon Friday at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114W, North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial is in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
