NORTH WEBSTER – Richard W. “Dick” Beeching, 64, of Leesburg, died at 5:30 a.m. June 12, 2011, in his residence. He was born Aug. 1, 1946, in Fort Wayne, to Charles I. and Elizabeth C. Sanford Beeching. On April 6, 1968, in Pierceton, he married R. Elaine Meeks, who survives. He graduated from North Side High School, Fort Wayne, in 1946, Indiana University in 1969 and received a master’s degree from Purdue University. He retired in 2005 from Indiana State Teachers Association as Uniserv director in the South Bend office. He lived in South Bend most of his life, summered at Tippecanoe Lake and moved to Leesburg (Tippecanoe Lake) upon retirement. He was a member of the Indiana University Alumni Association. Also surviving are a daughter, Jennifer Beeching, Indianapolis; a son, Spencer (and spouse Sarah) Beeching, Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Jeanette Troutner and Joan (and spouse Larry) Thayer, all of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by a brother. Services will be private at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster, with the Rev. Matthew Leffler officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
