NOBLESVILLE – Rex David Kreger, 51, of Noblesville, and formerly of Pierceton, died of a heart attack Aug. 13, 2012, while jogging at Strawtown Koteewi Park.

He was born Sept. 27, 1960, in Pierceton, to Jerry and Joyce Kreger. On June 23, 1984, he married Laura, “Lolly” Duggins, who survives.

He attended Whitko High School, where he was a star athlete in football, basketball, baseball and track. He attended Pierceton Presbyterian Church, where he got the perfect attendance award every year. He graduated from Whitko in 1979, and he earned an athletic scholarship to play football and baseball at Valparaiso University. He played varsity football and baseball all four years at Valpo, and he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1983.

He was a founding member of Open Door Free Methodist Church, Noblesville, and was later an active member of Grace Community Church. He served God in multiple capacities by leading Bible studies, youth group and community service projects. He was an operations manager at Consolidated Freightways for 20 years and Fluid Waste Services for 10 years, where he led a Bible Study with the men Fridays at 5:30 a.m. before the work day began.

Also surviving are two children, Chase (and spouse Suzanne) Kreger and Marybeth (and spouse Anthony) Jorge; his parents; a brother, Jerry F. Kreger; and a sister, Susan Kreger Peck.

A memorial service will at 3 p.m. Friday at Open Door Free Methodist Church, Noblesville.

Calling will following the service until 8 p.m Friday at the church.
