Report Of Unresponsive Man Leads To His Arrest On Drug ChargesMILFORD – Officers dispatched to an unresponsive man in Milford ended up arresting him on drug charges.
Patrick A. Belt, 25, of 309 S. Henry St., Milford, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 12:37 p.m. Tuesday for dealing a controlled substance and possession of methamphetamine. His preliminary bond was set at $5,250.
According to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, KCSO deputies and Lutheran EMS were dispatched to Mock Road, at Old Ind. 15, for an unresponsive man – later identified as Belt – inside a pickup truck. Witnesses at the scene called Kosciusko County Central Dispatch and reported that they had broken a truck window in order to render aid to the unresponsive male. At that point, the man woke up and ran from the truck, crossing in front of an oncoming train.
KCSO deputies and a Syracuse Police Department officer converged on the area and began to search for the man. Belt was found attempting to hide behind a neighboring house. He was taken into custody without incident, the release states.
Meanwhile, officers at the location of the initial call were notified of possible drug-related materials inside the pickup truck. Officers found over 15 grams of methamphetamine and marijuana, in addition to cash, weight scales and individual plastic bags.
The methamphetamine carries a street value of more than $1,500.
