Warsaw’s code enforcement personnel are reminding residents of the requirements to clear sidewalks of snow and ice.
Residents and owners of buildings that front city streets are expected to remove snow and ice from adjacent sidewalks.
The ordinance calls for the sidewalks to be cleared of snow and ice by 9 a.m.
Uncleared sidewalks are viewed as a safety issue for children going to and from school, mail carriers and others who use the sidewalks, according to a news release from the city.
On a related note, the city also has an ordinance that requires motorists to not leave vehicles parked along city streets from sitting for more than three days.
Motorists whose vehicles remain parked for more than three days along city streets are subject to a fine.
The concern is that those vehicles could accumulate a large amount of snow on and around the vehicle, making the removal of snow by the street department difficult.
