Rebecca 'Becky' Pletcher Leonard

VEVAY – Rebecca “Becky” Pletcher Leonard, 69, of Patriot, and formerly of McCordsville, died at 12:53 a.m. July 27, 2012, in the University of Cincinnati  (Ohio) Hospital.

She was born March 6, 1943, in Warsaw, to Ray Richard “Dick” and Letha Jeanette Lentz Pletcher, who survive in Patriot. She married Jack Keith Leonard, who survives in Patriot.

She was raised in Pierceton, where she was a 1961 Pierceton High School graduate. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Purdue University in 1965 and was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She earned a master’s degree in communication from Ball State University. After moving to Fortville, she spent 15 years teaching English and literature for the Mount Vernon Community School Corp. She was a member of Fortville Chapter of PSI IOTA XI Sorority, the Fortville Park Board and the Patriot Park Board. She was a former teacher at Anderson High School and Lockyear Community College and formerly worked for the Department of Natural Resources, the City of McCordsville and Fortville Pharmacy. She was a member of Patriot Baptist Church and the Republican Party. She will be remembered for her love of quilting, reading and boating. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and grandmother.

Also surviving are two daughters, Sarah (and spouse Scott) Hampton, McCordsville, and Jenny (and spouse Steve) Leonard, Austin, Texas; a brother, Clint (and spouse Cheryl) Pletcher; two nieces; and three beautiful granddaughters, Lily, Ava and Pearl.

Private services will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Haskel & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry St., Vevay, is in charge of arrangements.
