Randy Douglas HaistRandy Douglas Haist, 70, of Rochester, and formerly of Brookville, Ohio, passed at 2:41 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Woodlawn Hospital of Rochester.
Randy was born on Sept. 25, 1951, in Adrian, Mich., to Paul R. and Eva Mae Loker Haist.
He was a 1969 graduate of Mentone High School. He then graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resources. Randy lived in Asheville, N.C., and worked as a Realtor. He then moved to Kettering, Ohio, where he worked in the park system in maintenance, later becoming a park ranger. He loved antiques. He opened an antique store in Lewisburg, Ohio, and later Brookville, Ohio. He traveled throughout Indiana and Ohio to antique shows. Randy loved birds, animals and the outdoors.
He is survived by his mother, Eva Mae Haist, of Rochester; stepson, Jesse Sweeney, of Asheville, N.C.; and his daughter, Mia; and a niece, Meredith and husband Travis Adams, of Mentone, and their children Jackson and Logan.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Paul Haist; sister, Jacalyn Haist; brother, Herb Haist; and an infant brother.
Following his wishes, no services will be held at this time.
The arrangements have been entrusted to King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone.
Memorial contributions can be made in Randy’s memory to the outdoor charity of the donor’s choosing.
