Randall A. ChaplinRandall A. Chaplin, 75, of Warsaw, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2022, at home, surrounded by his family.
Randy was born in Argos on Nov. 27, 1946, the son of the late John Henry Chaplin and Garnet Avenelle Saygers Chaplin. He graduated from Atwood High School with the Class of ’64 and went on to serve his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Randy retired from Northern Indiana Public Service Co. as a control room operator and was also a proud member of the United Steelworkers Local 12775. He was a member of the American Legion Post #49 and the VFW James W. Sittler Post 1126.
Randy enjoyed camping, spending the summers in Welston, Mich.; he was an avid sports fan, especially Notre Dame football and NASCAR racing, and he also enjoyed hunting and fishing, tending to his yard and trying his luck with an occasional trip to the casinos. He truly cherished the time he spent with his family and he loved watching his grandchildren grow into the wonderful adults they have become.
Randy is survived by his wife, Kathy Chaplin; his daughter, Beth Ann Jungels; and son, Dean Allen Chaplin, all of Warsaw; stepson, Christopher Andrew Gallion, of Orlando Fla.; grandchildren: Peyton Christopher Blayze Balazs and Tanner Weston Balazs, both of Warsaw; Brianna Alaina Chaplin, of Burket; and his brother, Thomas Chaplin, of Mishawaka.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jonel Houghton.
Graveside services will be held in the Chapel at Oakwood Cemetery, 421 N. Maple Ave., Warsaw, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24 with military honors. Terry Matzat will officiate the service. The family of Randy welcomes all who would like to attend.
