NORTH WEBSTER - A public meeting for the North Webster Town Park improvement project will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19 at the North Webster Community Center.
The town council was notified of the public meeting at their own brief meeting Tuesday night.
North Webster Clerk-Treasurer LeighAnn Jessop notified the council that people may attend the meeting and request what needs they have for the park and what amenities they want and see a potential layout of the park.
The Webster Lake Conservation Association will also be at the meeting to discuss the dredging project for Webster Lake.
The public will be able to ask questions and get more information at the meeting.
In other news, an alley near Himes and Huntington streets will now become one way. This is due to the fact that two vehicles, one a school bus, cannot drive through the alley at the same time without driving on a town resident’s lawn. A sign will be put up and an ordinance will also be drafted by the town attorney.
Greg Church, town marshal, gave the January police report. There were 825 officer hours, 3,411 miles driven and 346 gallons of fuel used.
There were 199 calls of service last month. Of those 13 were battery, fight or domestic calls; one criminal mischief call, three thefts or fraud calls, two alcohol-related calls and 28 traffic-related calls. There were 13 accidents, 25 citizen assist or lockouts and 17 agency assistance for fire or EMS.
Church requested a mowing ordinance be drafted. This is due to tall levels of grass on some residents’ lawns. He said levels higher than 9 inches tall are typically too high and people are given a warning to mow the grass or be fined.
Laura Kaufman, town attorney, will draft an ordinance making it legally binding by researching laws pertaining to tall grass issues and what fees can be assessed.
“I think this will solve a lot of issues,” said Church.
Utilities Manager Mike Noe requested funds to purchase tubing for lift stations at the wastewater/sewage treatment plant. The council approved spending $1,938 for the necessary equipment.
Noe also said he got additional salt after the street department ran out of salt. “We were using sand for a while,” he said.
The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 24 at NWCC.
