Staff Report-
BOURBON – James Snyder and Delano Shumpert put on an air show as Triton topped Culver 35-21 on Friday in a Hoosier North Athletic Conference home game.
“We took what they gave us,” said Triton coach Ron Brown. “We found mismatches that they were able to take advantage of and get some quick strikes.’
Snyder completed seven passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns, while Shumpert hauled in three passes for 114 yards and two scores.
Triton (3-2, 2-1) trailed 13-8 in the second quarter, but took the lead when Snyder connected with Tye Orsund for a 3-yard touchdown.
The Trojans never trailed after that, as Snyder scored a 6-yard touchdown and they went into the half up 22-13.
Culver’s fourth-quarter touchdown on a 1-yard run by Zac Ditmire brought the Cavaliers within one score, but Snyder found Shumpert for a 71-yard score to put distance between the teams.
Triton will host defending 1A state-champions Pioneer on Friday at 7 p.m.
Pioneer will bring a 20-game win streak to Bourbon and has outscored its opponents 342-19.
“We’re playing a great team, and we get to see what it’s like to play the champions,” Brown said.

SPEICHERVILLE – Northfield was too much for the Manchester Squires on Friday.
Manchester was down by just one touchdown at the end of the third quarter, but Northfield tacked on two more scores in the fourth to seal the 42-21 victory.
“They made some big plays, and that was the difference,” said Manchester coach Greg Miller.
Delton Moore surpassed 800 rushing yards on the season with 70 yards on 17 carries, and also scored a touchdown.
However, Miller would have liked to have seen more from the Squires’ overall ground game.
“We didn’t get our running game going like we wanted to,” Miller said.
Miller is still optimistic about the Squires’ season.
“We’re gonna bounce back against (Tippecanoe) Valley,” he said.
Manchester (2-3, 0-1 TRC) will host Valley on Friday at 7 p.m.

Panthers Pounce On Wawasee Warriors
SYRACUSE – The Wawasee football struggled against one of the top teams in the state Friday.
The Warriors lost 57-13 against Class 4A No. 2 NorthWood.
“They’re a solid, solid team and they’re very efficient, and honestly, we just made too many mistakes,” said Wawasee coach Mike Eshbach.
Wawasee scored on Dylan Hepler’s 99-yard kickoff return in the second quarter, and struck again when Evan Eshbach found Steven Hauntz for a 30-yard touchdown pass.
By then, however, the game already was out of reach.
Wawasee again struggled on the ground, gaining 28 yards on 18 rushes.
The Warriors (0-5, 0-3 NLC) will travel to Plymouth for a conference game on Friday at 7 p.m.
