FORT WAYNE – Warsaw’s varsity girls basketball team led Class 4A No. 2 Homestead 10-8 after one quarter of play Tuesday night, but the Lady Tigers only scored 11 points in the second half of a 47-31 loss.
Homestead, now 20-2 on the season, led 27-20 at halftime and then held the Lady Tigers to two points in the third quarter and nine in the fourth.
The Lady Tigers, who fell to 12-7, committed 13 turnovers, which led to 16 points for Homestead.
The Lady Spartans had just two turnovers.
Senior Maddie Ryman led Warsaw with 11 points, while freshman Kacilyn Krebs scored nine points, and freshman Abby Sanner tallied eight points and 10 rebounds.
Rylie Parker scored a game-high 13 points for Homestead, and teammates Ayana Patterson and Sylare Starks chipped in with 10 and eight points, respectively.
The Lady Tigers are in action again Friday when they travel to Northern Lakes Conference foe Concord. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday but moved because of predicted weather.
Lady Warriors Beat Whitko On Hardwood
SYRACUSE – Casey Schroeder scored a game-high 19 points as the Wawasee varsity girls basketball team beat Whitko 47-38 Tuesday.
Caitlin Wortinger tallied 12 points, nine rebounds and four steals to help the Lady Warriors’ cause, while Jada Carter added six points, two assists, two steals and a block.
Emalee Duggins and Sarah Hewitt scored 12 points each for Whitko (3-15), while Ellie Snep tallied eight points and 14 rebounds
Whitko travels to Southwood Thursday, while Wawasee (4-15) goes to Plymouth Saturday.
Abby Steiner scored 12 points as Wawasee’s JV team won 41-38.
Lady Squires Win at FW Blackhawk
FORT WAYNE – The Manchester Lady Squires outscored host Fort Wayne Blackhawk 17-10 in the fourth quarter Tuesday and pulled out a 41-30 win in varsity girls basketball action.
Manchester, now 11-7 on the season, led 6-4 after one quarter of play and 18-12 at halftime.
Eva Bazzoni led the Lady Squires with 14 points, five rebounds and a steal, while Emma West scored eight points, and Kennidy Lauer chipped in with seven.
The Lady Squires made 10 out of 12 free throws to put the game away.
Manchester travels to rival Wabash for a game Thursday.
In the JV game, Makenzy Myer, Keilan Craeger and Emma Garriott scored seven points each as Manchester won 40-9.
Calizo Leads Lady Cougars To Win Over Granger Chr.
LCA’s varsity girls basketball team led 16-4 after one quarter of play Tuesday and cruised to a 47-28 win at Granger Christian.
The Lady Cougars led 23-15 at halftime and 34-23 after the third quarter.
Tori Calizo led LCA with 16 points, 13 rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Anna Reimink chipped in with 12 points, eight boards, four steals and three assists.
The Lady Cougars, who have won six of their last seven games, are now 11-7. LCA plays at Caston Thursday.
