Prep Roundup: Lady Squires Fall In Soccer Sectional Semifinals

FORT WAYNE – The Manchester High School girls soccer team saw their season end Thursday in a 2-0 loss to host Blackhawk Christian in a 1A sectional semifinal.
The Lady Squires ended their campaign with a 6-9 record, while Blackhawk Christian improved to 10-6-2 and will play Fort Wayne Canterbury, a 3-0 semifinal winner over Woodlan, in Saturday’s 2 p.m. sectional final.
Junior Hallie Van Dussen scored both goals for Blackhawk Christian.
Manchester’s roster included seven seniors that coach Jen Birch said will be “greatly missed.”
That list of seniors includes Emily Ogden, Jirni Cripe, Cassie Newman, Tiara Lincoln, Jennifer Robles, Brenda Diaz and Selene Hernandez.
NorthWood Sweeps Wawasee Spikers
NAPPANEE – The Wawasee Lady Warriors were swept by Northern Lakes Conference opponent NorthWood Thursday evening.
The hosts beat Wawasee 25-11, 25-20 and 25-14, dropping the Lady Warriors to 13-18 overall and 2-5 in NLC play.
Liz Kleopfer tallied 15 assists for the Lady Warriors, while Brooke Heche added 10 digs and two aces, and Hannah Gaerte had eight digs and four kills.
Wawasee (16-8) fell 24-25, 25-21, 15-9 in the JV match.
Delaney Hare led the 11 digs, three kills and two aces, while Morgan Heche finished with 13 digs and Emma Dippon had six kills, four blocks and two aces.
In the freshman match, NorthWood topped Wawasee 25-19, 22-25, 15-7.
Talia Kuhl tallied 15 digs for the freshman Lady Warriors (18-6), while Laney Gross had eight assists, three kills, an ace and a block.
Valley Volleyball Team Falls At Southwood
WABASH – The Tippecanoe Valley volleyball team fell in four games at Three Rivers Conference foe Southwood Thursday.
The host Knights scored a 25-17, 15-25, 25-19, 25-18 win that improved them to 18-15 overall and 5-4 in league play.
Valley fell to 17-15 and 5-4.
Sophie Bussard tallied 12 digs and 11 kills in the loss, while Sarah Myers chipped in with 14 assists.
The Lady Vikings’ JV team won 20-25, 25-15, 15-12 and finished the season with a 21-7 record.
Satellites Get Past Triton Lady Trojans
BOURBON – The Triton Lady Trojans suffered a varsity volleyball loss Thursday to the visiting South Central Satellites, the team Triton will open sectional play with next week at Culver High School.
Triton fell 25-23, 18-25, 25-23, 25-19.
Emma Hepler had 23 assists in the loss, while Lexia Hostrawser tallied seven kills and six aces. Jaela Faulkner and Molly McFarland added 17 and 12 digs, respectively, and Abby Viers led Triton in kills with 10.
Triton won the JV match 25-24, 25-23.
