PLYMOUTH – Warsaw’s No. 1 doubles team won in a consolation match Thursday in the Northern Lakes Conference Tournament at Plymouth.

The Tigers’ duo of Spencer Britton and Nolan Knight redeemed themselves after Wednesday’s close loss with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Wawasee’s Grant Brooks and Jacob Krugman.

Warsaw’s Hayden Anderson subbed for Brian Elliott in a No. 3 singles consolation match. Anderson defeated Northridge’s Avery Mantyla 0-6, 6-4, 6-0.

Wawasee’s three singles players also picked up consolation wins.

The Warriors’ Zach Leedy faced Warsaw’s Caleb Williams at No. 1 singles and won 6-3, 1-6, 6-1.

Wawasee’s wins at Nos. 2 and 3 singles came against Elkhart Memorial.

Graham Perek won 6-1, 6-2 over Luke Lazenby at No. 2 singles, while Colin Rhoades earned a 6-4, 6-1 win over Jesus Hernandez at No. 3 singles.

Warsaw’s No. 1 doubles team, Anderson, and all of Wawasee’s singles players will compete for fifth place at their respective positions.

The Tigers’ No. 2 doubles team of Jarret Orr and Michael Ray, who won in the first round, fell 6-2, 6-0 to Plymouth’s Drew Harrell and Andy Rostron.

Orr and Ray will face Evan Nay and Aaron Cripe of Northridge in the third-place match.

Warsaw’s No. 2 singles player, Reuben Williams, lost 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 to Plymouth’s Grant Houin in a consolation match.

Wawasee’s No. 2 doubles tandem of Zeke Keim and Clayton Firestone lost 6-0, 6-0 to Goshen’s Axel Brown and Drake Crowder.

Caleb Williams, Reuben Williams, and both of Wawasee’s doubles teams will play for seventh place at their respective positions.

The final round of the NLC Tournament will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at Wawasee High School.



Kruschwitz Kicks In Four For Squires

PERU – Harley Kruschwitz turned in an electric offensive performance as the Manchester boys soccer team won 14-0 Thursday at Peru.

Kruschwitz scored four goals and assisted on one more for the Squires (10-0, 5-0 TRC), while Isaiah Davis and Sam Reichenbach scored two goals each.

Manchester’s Brandon Wagoner and Tony Lee each had a goal and an assist, while Logan Bishop, Michael Wirsing, Caleb Stout and Michael Learned also scored.

Dyson Rosen assisted on five goals, and Klayton Hendrix registered one assist.



Stewart Scores Three In LCA Win

WINONA LAKE – Parker Stewart netted a hat trick Thursday as the Lakeland Christian boys soccer team won 7-0 over Tippecanoe Valley in a home match.

“We possessed the ball very well tonight,” said Lakeland Christian coach Dan Miller. “Everyone on the team was involved and contributed to the win and the shutout.”

Stewart assisted on two goals by Micah Mansfield, while Landon Paris and Jacob Harmon also found the net for the Cougars (9-3-1).

Harmon assisted on two goals, while Michael Easterling also tallied an assist.

Peter Koller was in the net with a save for the Cougars, while Alexis Hernandez made nine saves for the Vikings (2-10).



Warsaw Deadlocks With Goshen

GOSHEN – Ethan Grill scored a goal as the Class 3A No. 12 Warsaw boys soccer team tied 1-1 Thursday in a Northern Lakes Conference match at 3A No. 7 Goshen.

Grill’s goal came in the first half, and the hosts tied things in the second half. Harrison Mevis was in the net with 10 saves for the Tigers (8-2-5, 3-0-2 NLC).

Northridge is 4-0 in the NLC, followed by Warsaw, Memorial (4-1-1) and Goshen (3-2-2). The Tigers have two NLC contests left, as they host Wawasee Saturday for senior day, and then host Northridge Thursday.



Wildcats Fall to Eagles

COLUMBIA CITY – The Whitko boys soccer team lost 15-0 Thursday at Columbia City.

The Eagles scored six goals in the first half and nine in the second.

Whitko will play Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Prairie Heights.



Warriors Win Over Lakers

SYRACUSE – Three Warriors scored goals to lead the Wawasee boys soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Lakeland Thursday in a home match.

Chris Pena tallied a goal and an assist for Wawasee, while Brandon Tayagua and Braedon Schlabach also scored.

Dillon Drake was in the net with three saves for Wawasee (4-9).



Calizos Lead LCA Past Jimtown

ELKHART – The Calizo sisters struck again to lead the Lakeland Christian girls soccer team to a 9-1 win at Jimtown.

Tori Calizo notched a hat trick and Jessi Calizo netted two goals for the Lady Cougars (8-2-2).

Lakeland Christian’s Lauren Starrett, Keely Bauer, Anna Reimink and Avery Hobbs also scored, while Maddie Paris was in the net with three saves for the Lady Cougars.

Lakeland Christian will play Saturday at 11 a.m. at Maconaquah.



Wawasee Blanked By Plymouth

PLYMOUTH – The Wawasee girls soccer team struggled offensively in an 8-0 loss Thursday in a Northern Lakes Conference match at Plymouth.

Graceanne Kerlin was in the net with eight saves for the Lady Warriors (2-10-1, 0-4 NLC).



Trojans Serve Lancers

BOURBON – Alyxa Viers had eight kills and 13 digs to lead the Triton volleyball team to a 3-1 win Thursday against LaVille in a home match.

Triton won 25-16, 25-21, 17-25, 25-21.

Abbey Viers recorded 14 kills for the Lady Trojans, while Dylanie Miller registered 22 assists, Emma Hepler notched seven assists, Jaela Faulkner had 16 digs, and Molly McFarland posted 14 digs.

Triton won the JV match 25-19, 25-24.



Valley Comes Up Short At Northfield

WABASH – Makenzie Woodcox posted 17 kills, but the Tippecanoe Valley volleyball team fell 3-1 Thursday in a Three Rivers Conference match at Northfield.

Valley lost 25-16, 17-25, 25-16, 30-28.

Hannah Engstrand registered 26 assists, while Shayleigh Shriver recorded 12 digs for the Lady Vikings (12-8, 3-3 TRC).

Valley won the JV match 25-9, 25-15.

Hayley Backus had five kills for the JV squad, while Ashley Butler recorded 11 assists and Macy Kirchenstein had six aces for the Lady Vikings (16-5).



Squires Sweep Vikings

AKRON – The Manchester boys tennis team pulled off a  5-0 win Thursday in a Three Rivers Conference match at Tippecanoe Valley.

The Squires won all three singles matches, while Valley lost both doubles matches by forfeit.



Manchester Edged By Maconaquah

NORTH MANCHESTER – The Manchester JV volleyball team lost 2-1 Thursday to Maconaquah in a home match.

Manchester lost 25-21, 19-25, 15-10.

Aubree Lambert, Blake Drasny and Makenzy Meyer all had five kills for the Lady Squires, while Alyssa Marvel recorded six digs and 10 assists.

Meyer added five aces, while Morgan Parrett registered 10 digs.
