Editor, Times-Union: A group of us are asking that people pray and fast for rain on Monday, June 18. Crops are hurting, livestock, wildlife and also those that do lawn care business. With high temps this weekend, this will be extremely damaging to the crops that are already stressed.
Currently, with the dry conditions, when moisture tries to move in, the atmosphere is so dry that it evaporates. Once this cycle is established, it becomes more difficult to get out of and we have been in it for some time already.
We are asking churches to announce that Monday, June 18, be a day of praying and fasting for rain. We also have a Facebook page that people can share, Praying And Fasting For Rain.
