Chad Zartman is giving motorists something to think about as a result of some mysterious “Joe Must Go” signs on Winona Avenue in Warsaw.
Adding to the drama was the fact one of the signs was tagged by the city as a violation of city ordinance for temporary signs that appear near streets.
Zartman, a vocal opponent of Mayor Joe Thallemer, said the signs refer to U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly, who is up for re-election. However, some visitors to Warsaw Community Facebook page where pictures of the signs were posted, seemed to think it was directed at Thallemer.
Zartman is involved with that page.
The signs appear to be stenciled and have a handwritten message indicating they were paid by Zartman and his wife.
As for the sign violation, Zartman said plenty of other campaign signs appear to be in violation of the road right of way provision. He said he took the tag off and will not move the sign until all the others in violation are relocated.
Zartman, who operates rental properties in the city, has taken knocks at Thallemer since the city established a new garbage policy a few years ago.

ENDORSEMENTS – A photo on sheriff’s candidate Kyle Dukes includes a photo of him with Tea Party activist Monica Boyer. Certainly feels like an endorsement ... Second District Democratic Congressional Candidate Mel Hall announced that former Congresswoman Jill Long Thompson has endorsed Hall’s campaign.
A LITTLE JOSHING – One of Hall’s opponents, Yatish Joshi, tends to bring a little humor to the campaign trail and is more than willing to make fun of his own thick accent.
Joshi was born in Bombay, India, and said he is aware of the accent.
He said that when he hears recordings of his conversations, “Even I don’t understand what I’m saying.”
Joshi made the comments Monday when he and fellow opponent, Pat Hackett attended a meeting hosted by the Kosciusko County Democratic Party.
