Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office has updated information on Sunday’s fatal crash.
The two people that were pronounced dead after a semi tractor-trailer accident were identified as Marlon Audiel Fuentes Alvarado, 9; and Marlon Josue Fuentes Roque, 31, according to information provided by KCSO Public Information Officer Sgt. Chris Francis.
First responders were dispatched at 2:08 a.m. Sunday to the intersection of U.S. 30 and CR 875W in Etna Township for a two-vehicle collision.
According to preliminary results of the KCSO Fatal Team investigation, a 2011 Mazda, driven by Roque, was traveling south on CR 875W, approaching U.S. 30.
A semi driven by Paul Banks, 44, of Bridgman, Mich., was traveling west on U.S. 30, approaching the intersection with CR 875W, when Roque failed to yield.
The semi struck the driver’s side door of the Mazda, killing Roque and Fuentes.
Banks was not injured.
Responding agencies included KCSO, Etna Green and Atwood fire departments, Lutheran EMS and the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.
