Police Cars

Editor Times-Union:
Sometimes I just can’t stand it any longer and I just have to say something about what our representatives do and the choices they make.
Recently the Board of Works decided to purchase police cars locally and spend an additional $6,000 in doing so. Now many of you know that I don’t always agree with their decisions but this time Joe was spot on. Why, you ask?
Because Lakeside Chevrolet paid $54,569.41 in property tax to the county we live in last year and a ton of those dollars get sent to our city to buy things like “police cars.”  I saw an article written in another paper by someone who asked what good reason could they have to spend more when the service will be done here anyway?
Sometimes we as humans don’t look at the big picture and this is one of those times where some people think our representatives have lost their minds and yet buying things from a company that pays taxes to our city and county is one huge reason.
On another note, Kelly Chevrolet pays Allen co $36,930.32 to be located in old downtown Fort Wayne. Does anyone know how many cars Lakeside Chevrolet has to sell to make up the difference they pay in just one year over and above Kelly Chevrolet? I’ll tell you – a lot of cars.
So I say to the city of Warsaw please buy everything you can from nuts and bolts to multi-thousand dollar machines from our local suppliers to do the work that needs to be done servicing the people and businesses that pay for those very services.
