Planned Parenthood

Editor, Times-Union:

I am writing in response to the piece you posted on the Times-Union Web site Sept. 24 regarding protests at the Warsaw Planned Parenthood health center. The article was one-sided and misleading.

Your story neglected to mention that the Warsaw Planned Parenthood location does not perform abortions. Rather, the center focuses on providing lifesaving health services including annual exams and Pap tests, breast exams and STD testing and treatment, men's health services, and HPV and HIV testing. The center also offers advanced diagnosis and care for abnormal Pap tests.

In fact, Planned Parenthood of Indiana strives to prevent unintended pregnancies by educating honestly and accurately and providing multiple forms of contraception to patients. The center also is part of PPIN's "Recession Rx" program, which offers reduced cost birth control and free annual exams and STD screenings to those who have been affected by layoffs and the recession. We will continue to provide quality, affordable health care to the patients who depend each and every day on our services.
