Pierceton Motorcyclist Dies In CrashA Pierceton man was pronounced dead after a motorcycle accident Thursday night on Ind. 13, just north of East Shoop Road.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputies and emergency personnel responded Thursday at 10 p.m. to a single-vehicle motorcycle crash at that location, according to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency personnel arrived on scene and found a single motorcycle involved in the crash.
Preliminary investigation and witness statements determined a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Edward D. Dempsey, 55, of Pierceton, was southbound on Ind. 13 at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle left the west side of the roadway striking a wooden utility crew support platform sitting off the side of the roadway.
Dempsey was thrown from the motorcycle and came to rest in the yard att 741 S. Ind. 13. The motorcycle continued south flipping multiple times before coming to rest.
Dempsey was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office as a result of injuries suffered in the accident.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Lutheran EMS, Pierceton Fire Department, Pierceton Police Department, North Webster Police Department, Indiana State Police, Crouse Wrecker Service and Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office. The crash remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County FACT Team.
