Pierceton Fire Believed Electrical In NaturePIERCETON – An electrical fire was the cause of a Saturday afternoon attic fire at a home in Pierceton.
About 3:12 p.m. Saturday, Pierceton Fire Department, Winona Lake Fire Department, Lutheran EMS and Pierceton Police Department responded to 108 E. Church St.
Pierceton fire chief Gordon Baker said the electrical fire was in the attic and remained contained to the attic.
The fire was extinguished within 30 minutes of responders’ arrival, Baker said, with the scene cleared in about two hours. Smoke and water damage was estimated at $15,000 to $20,000.
The home is owned by Adam Stromatt. Baker said Stromatt went outside Saturday afternoon to get something from his car and noticed smoke coming from the attic.
“It definitely could have been a lot worse,” Baker said.
