AKRON – Pauline I. Ruff, 84, formerly of Akron, died at 4:25 p.m. Oct. 3, 2012, in Life Care Center, Rochester, where she resided. She was born Sept. 8, 1928, in Akron, to Russell and Carrie Churchill Swihart. On Nov. 19, 1948, in Akron, she married Alvin L. Russ, who died Nov. 4, 2004. She was a homemaker and had worked in housekeeping at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester. She attended Rochester Church of God. She enjoyed doing needlework and gardening and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are four daughters: Barbara (and spouse Tom) Ervin, Ligonier; Mary Ann (and spouse Monte) Wilson, Akron; Wanda (and spouse Hugh) O’Donnell, Star City; and Donna Voorhees, Rochester; two sisters, Norma (and spouse James) Lee, Fruitland, Fla., and Judy Montague, Akron; a brother, Jack Swihart, Gilead; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a great-grandson; a son-in-law, Nelson Voorhees; and a brother, Leroy Swihart. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Larry Pyeatt officiating. Burial will be in Nichols Cemetery, Akron.
