NAPPANEE – Paula Kay Zercher, 62, of 551 Maple Lane, Nappanee, died at 4 a.m. June 3, 2013, in her residence, after a six-month illness with cancer.
She was born Nov. 18, 1950, in Elkhart, to Charles D. and Sally Uline Stump. On May 26, 1973, in Nappanee, she married Gene Zercher, who survives.
Living most of her life in Nappanee, she graduated from Nappanee High School in 1969 and Butler University in 1973 and received a master’s degree from IUSB. She served as principal of South Side Elementary School its last year before closing, She then went on as guidance counselor at Nappanee Elementary School.
She was a member of Brethren in Christ Church, Nappanee.
Also surviving are a daughter, Amy Zercher (and Jake Klotz), Nappanee; two sons, Charlie (and spouse Trischa) Zercher and Ben Zercher, all of Nappanee; three grandchildren; her mother, Sally Stump, Nappanee; a sister, Carla (and spouse Kevin) Butcher, Detroit, Mich.; and a brother, Charles A. Stump, Syracuse.
 A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Brethren in Christ Church with the Rev. Jeff Williams officiating, assisted be the Rev. Kevin Butcher. There will be cremation and cremains will be buried in South Union Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Wednesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
