NAPPANEE - Paul R. Rummel, 78, of 26650 CR 46, Nappanee, died at 12:33 p.m. Sept. 23, 2009, in Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born Oct. 28, 1930, in Nappanee, in the family residence where he lived, to Emery and Dora Clay Rummel. On Aug. 5, 1951, in Wakarusa, he married Eleanor Kent, who survives.
A lifetime area resident, he graduated from Nappanee High School and the agriculture short course at Purdue University. He was a dairy farmer and a member of Bible Baptist Church, Wakarusa. He was the former Union Township Trustee and advisory board president; he served on the Elkhart County Farm Bureau Inc.; was a former board member and president of the Farm Bureau Co-op; and former member and president of Union Township Farm Bureau.
Also surviving are three daughters, Kathleen (and spouse Larry) Cripe, New Paris, and Doris (and spouse Jeff) Biller and Elaine (and spouse Scott) Mast, all of Nappanee; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchidren; a brother, Everett (and spouse Laura) Rummel, New Paris; and a sister, Berniece Rummel, South Bend. He was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.
