Parker, Potter Lead Valley Vikings To Slay Dragons

AKRON – The Vikings pulled out a close one Tuesday.
The Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team won 47-43 over Argos in a home game.
The game was close throughout. The score was tied at 8 after the first quarter, and Valley led 20-19 by halftime.
Argos (0-1) outscored the Vikings to a carry a one-point lead into the fourth quarter, but Valley scored 15 points in the final quarter for the victory.
Cameron Parker led the Vikings (1-1) with 20 points and four rebounds, while Jace Potter added 13 points.

Twombly Leads LCA To Victory
WINONA LAKE – Landon Twombly scored 21 points to lead the Lakeland Christian boys basketball team to a 47-32 home victory Tuesday over Bethany Christian.
Jake Harmon added 13 points and had five steals for the Cougars (1-1).
The Cougars led 10-9 after the first quarter before breaking open the game with a 19-point second quarter. They maintained the lead in the second half to cruise to victory.
Trenton Parker pulled down six rebounds for Lakeland Christian, which will play Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Argos.

Triton Trounced
By Plymouth
PLYMOUTH – The Triton boys basketball team lost 61-28 Tuesday at Plymouth.
The Trojans stayed close early, heading into the second quarter down 13-2. However, they scored eight points combined in the second and third quarters, while the Pilgrims extended their lead.
Beau Hepler led Triton (1-1) with seven points.
Jake Reichard scored a game-high 18 points for the Pilgrims (3-0).
Triton will play Friday at 7:30 p.m. at NorthWood.
WINONA LAKE – Tori Calizo’s double-double powered the Lakeland Christian girls basketball team to a 48-15 rout of Community Baptist Tuesday in a home game.
Calizo scored 16 points while pulling down 10 rebounds and tallying five steals.
Jessi Calizo had 12 points, five rebounds and three steals, while Anna Reimink added eight points and four boards.
The Lady Cougars’ defense would not give in the first quarter, as Lakeland Christian jumped out to an 11-0 lead to head into the second.
The Cougars gave up just six points in the second quarter and two points in the third, while piling on the points to carry a 41-8 advantage into the fourth.
Lakeland Christian (4-3) will host Culver Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Manchester Overcome By Oak Hill
CONVERSE - The Manchester girls basketball team suffered a huge loss, 60-30 Tuesday at Oak Hill.
Oak Hill outscored Manchester 15-2 in the first quarter and 12-7 in the second to take a comfortable, double-digit lead into the break.
The Lady Squires (3-4) continued to be outscored in the second half for the loss.
Kennedy Fierstos led Manchester with 11 points and one block.
Manchester lost 29-19 in the JV game. Emma Garriott led the Lady Squires with 11 points.
Manchester’s ‘C’ team lost 28-14, while Keilan Creager scored five points.
The Lady Squires will play Saturday at 7:45 p.m. at Northfield.
Wawasee Downed By West Noble
SYRACUSE - A slow start doomed Wawasee Tuesday.
The Lady Warriors basketball team scored just one point in the first quarter on their way to a 55-33 loss to West Noble in a home game.
Madison Mottern led Wawasee (2-4) with 12 points, while Jada Carter added seven.
West Noble’s Lillian Mast scored a game-high 13 points, while Madison Schermerhorn had 12.
The Lady Warriors won 43-38 in the JV game. Ella Beezley led Wawasee with nine points.
Wawasee will play Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at South Bend Adams.

Wildcats Waver Against Warriors
DENVER - The Whitko wrestling team was defeated 26-24 Tuesday at North Miami.
The Wildcats picked up four wins in the varsity match.
Whitko’s Kyle Reed (126 pounds) won by fall in the second period, while Brady Mitchell (170 pounds) also earned a pin in the second period.
Ezra Small (120 pounds) and Michael Conner (182 pounds) won by forfeits for the Wildcats.
Whitko also picked up a win in the JV match, with Tyler Stewart (132 pounds) winning by fall in the third period.
Warriors Sweep Chargers
SYRACUSE – The Wawasee boys and girls swim teams earned victories over Elkhart Memorial Tuesday at Wawasee Middle School.
The boys team won 125-49, while the girls team won 130-52.
On the boys side, Wawasee’s team of Karlson Hand, Alexander Troutman, Jacob Krugman and Aaron Troutman won the 200 medley relay in 1:56.07.
Jared Krugman won the 200 freestyle (1:53.33) and 500 freestyle (5:00.08). Jacob Krugman placed first in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.38) and 100 butterfly (1:00.39).
Hand won the 200 individual medley (2;13.87) and 100 backstroke (1:02.64), Bryce Knepp won the 50 freestyle (25.32) and 100 freestyle (55.69), and Brady Claassen won the one-meter diving competition with a score of 22.705 for the Warriors.
Wawasee’s Knepp, Aaron Troutman, Hand and Jared Krugman won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:43.71. Knepp, Alexander Mathew, Jacob Krugman and Jared Krugman won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:43.18.
On the girls side, the Lady Warriors team of Jordan Gibbs, Caitlin Kingrey, Abigail Hackleman, and Elena Sommers won in 2:16.34.
Wawasee’s Ella Park won the 200 freestyle (2:10.15) and 500 freestyle (5:39.08), while Lillian Tyler won the 200 IM (2:27.52), Alexandra Haberman took first in the 50 freestyle (28.27) and Madison McClintic placed first in the 1-meter diving competition.
Rileigh Atwood placed first in the 100 freestyle (58.96) and 100 breaststroke (1:10.38) for the Lady Warriors.
The Wawasee 200 freestyle relay team of Tyler, Atwood, Haberman and Park won in 1:53.07, while the same four swimmers took first in the 400 freestyle relay (4:07.30).
Valley Topped By NorthWood
AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley boys and girls swim teams lost to NorthWood Monday in a home meet.
The Valley boys team lost 103-76, while the girls team lost 96-69.
Valley’s Olivia Livengood, Mayde Fear and Jerzey Conely won two individual events each, and each were part of two winning relay teams.
Stephen Mason took first three times for the Vikings.
