When the going gets tough, the not-so-tough get gone. Maybe first dude will have to get a job.
Thank God she didn't have the chance to quit the vice presidency. She quit college five times before getting her degree - in journalism, ironic for someone who demonizes the press and interviews so badly.
Next stop for Sarah: a new TV reality show on Fox called "I'm Another Washed-Up Governor, Get Me Outta Here" or those sports metaphors at the end of Palin's speech explain it. She has a contract with the WNBA. Or maybe a more lucrative speech-giving career.
What Sarah needs to do to govern at the national level: Go back to college and earn a degree in political science, international relations, foreign policy. Take a course in public speaking. Learn to ignore/deal with criticism in a non-personal manner. Surround herself with good advisers who are experts in areas related to governing. Take the advice of her advisers. Read as many newspapers/other publications to get a feel for what most Americans look for in a politician. Research before she speaks. Actually learn what energy is instead of taxing Exxon and claiming to be an energy expert. Choose battles wisely. Stop using attack methods (people get turned off). Stop using labels like un-American. Develop well-thought-out policies to address America's problems. Try to see others' perspectives and attempt to govern from the center.
Just a few suggestions, but my confidence that she will do these things is very low because it appears that she thinks she doesn't need to know them to win national elections and govern successfully. Certainly, her grasp of Pig-Latin-Style-Palinese will not change.
Eventually, we'll all find out why she really walked off the job ... I'll be interested to see if it's just another corruption scandal with her house, though.
Whenever I build a large $500,000 box-like home with my buddies, like Todd does, I use the same commercial steel/glass panels upstairs overlooking my great room that are being installed as fencing in a $12 million sports complex pushed by my wife the mayor. With no building codes linking the home construction to a contractor so there won't be any messy inspections or discussions by city officials with the actual builders. My gosh, who hasn't done that once or twice.
The GOP is kind of like organized crime in Alaska. It's corrupt and arrogant. Because they do private sweetheart deals with the oil companies.
The mavericky Palin cut and ran as soon as she landed her rockstar status $11 million ghostwritten book deal. Also held two mega fundraisers. Guess those are going away presents. I won't be buying her book right away though, I'll wait for it to show up in the second-hand shops, and then read the index before making the purchase.
Does this mean that Wasilla will no longer be the capital of Alaska?
On her next Alaska-Indiana joint commerce junket, hopefully someone on her staff will explain to her this time frozen corn had already been invented.
Where is Paul Harvey when we really need ... The rest of the story?
