Local artist Steve Creighton has been notified by the American Impressionist Society that his painting, “Floral with Foley Vase,” has been juried into their organization’s national 10th annual Impressions: Small Works Showcase to be held at the J. Petter Galleries in Douglas, Mich.
The exhibition will take place May 1 through May 30 and features 171 artworks created by some of the nation’s best impressionist artists.
The jury considered over 1,760 entries for the show and Creighton’s painting is one of just four selected by Indiana artists, according to a provided news release.
Creighton grew up near Warsaw and majored in both art and business at Valparaiso University. His still life and landscape oil paintings have won many awards and have been displayed in major galleries throughout the United States. The James R. Ross Fine Art Gallery in Indianapolis offers his paintings for sale. His works are held by collectors across the country, the release states.
He is a signature member of Oil Painters of America, a signature member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society and a signature member of Hoosier Salon.
He loves the challenge of national and international competitions, stated the release. His studio is in Warsaw.
