Rumors that Our Father’s House is closing are greatly exaggerated.
According to Roz Morgan, executive director, only the warehouse is closing. The thrift store, catering operation and food pantry remain fully operational.
Morgan suspected the rumor started when a classified ad was placed in the Times-Union on Jan. 5 to sell off the contents of the warehouse.
“I think people starting thinking we were gonna shut down the whole thing, and that just isn’t the case,” she said.
“We need our customers to shop our thrift store. It’s how we keep all of our balls in the air.”
The warehouse became a maintenance problem for Morgan and her crew.
“I decided to let someone else deal with the trash there for a while,” she said.
The thrift store moved from its longtime location on Argonne Road to its current place at 2114 E. Winona Ave. last year. Morgan stressed the charity’s mission and work remain unchanged.
“I know there’s people who still need the food pantry, and hearing that we are closing can’t be good for them,” she said. “I don’t want anyone who needs the help to go without.”
