One Suffers Minor Injuries After Car Rear-Ended By SemiOne person reported minor injuries after a semi-tractor/trailer rear-ended a car on Ind. 15 near CR 600N Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 3:54 p.m. Tuesday, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office was called to the area of Ind. 15, south of CR 600N, in reference to a vehicle crash involving a semi.

Upon a KCSO deputy’s arrival, he saw a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu had extensive rear-end damage to it, according to information provided by KCSO. He also saw the Malibu had right-front damage.

The driver of the semi, out of Michigan – whose name, age and other information were not available as of Tuesday evening – advised the deputy that he was northbound on Ind. 15 when, at the last second, a third vehicle moved off to the right side of the road and, upon doing so, the semi driver saw the Malibu sitting in the northbound lane of Ind. 15. The semi driver told the deputy he was unable to avoid striking the Malibu in the rear.

The driver of the third vehicle told the deputy that he was behind the Malibu stopped in the northbound lane of Ind. 15, waiting on traffic, so the Malibu could turn into 5597 N. Ind. 15. The driver saw the semi-tractor trailer, which was behind him, traveling too fast to stop, in his opinion, so the third driver drove off the right shoulder of Ind. 15, resulting in the semi hitting the Malibu in the rear.

The driver of the Malibu, Jami Norris, 42, of Warsaw,  was taken by an ambulance to a nearby hospital due to complaint of pain in the neck area, according to information from the KCSO.

The semi’s trailer was picked up by another semi, per the company.
