GOSHEN - A Goshen woman was injured in a three-vehicle collision with the other two drivers being from Syracuse.
According to an Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office public news release, at approximately 2:57 p.m. today, a 2010 Honda CRV, driven by Wilna Vilneus, 33, Goshen, was traveling south on U.S. 33, north of CR 40, just south of the city corporate limits of Goshen. A 2017 Chevy Malibu, driven by Brian Newlin, 52, Syracuse, was traveling south on U.S. 33, north of CR 40, in front of the Honda CRV, and a 2014 Chevy Silverado, driven by Justin Halferty, 45, Syracuse, was traveling south on U.S. 33, north of CR 40, in front of the Chevy Malibu.
Vilneus was following the Chevy Malibu too closely, and when the Malibu stopped in traffic, Vilneus rear-ended Newlin, causing the Malibu to rear-end the Silverado.
Vilneus complained of pain all over her body and was transported to Goshen General Hospital for treatment. She was cited for following too closely.
Halferty and Newlin did not report any injuries.
The Silverado sustained damage to its rear end; the Malibu sustained damage to the rear and front ends; and the CRV sustained damage to its front end.
All drivers were reported as wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
