Warsaw has its very first “fully dedicated sub-specialized orthopedic team.”
At 8 a.m. Monday, Ortho NorthEast (ONE) had a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of its new medical office building at 315 E. CR 200N, Warsaw.
Back in October, Parkview Health and ONE hosted a ribbon-cutting and open house for their new orthopedic ambulatory surgery center next door at 335 E. CR 200N, Warsaw.
At Monday’s ceremony, Dr. Christopher Johnson, president of ONE and orthopedic oncology and joint reconstruction specialist, said, “Warsaw has always been known as the orthopedic capital of the world, and we’re excited to be a part of a new chapter here in Warsaw. This opening of a new Ortho NorthEast office.”
He said the office, which is approximately 9,000 square feet, was intentionally placed next to their new surgery center, which they did in collaboration with Parkview Health, to allow for “seamless integrated care for the community here.”
Continuing, Johnson said, “This matches the vision of Ortho NorthEast, which is to be a national leader in orthopedics. We do this by providing excellent care, leadership, education and research in everything that we do. Why this is historic is because this is the first time in Warsaw that there’s been a fully dedicated sub-specialized orthopedic team here for this community. This will include all of our sub-specialized surgeons for fellowship training in all specialities, from foot and ankle, hand, upper extremity, sport surgery, spine surgery, joint replacement. All right here in this community.”
He said they will be collaborating with their education and research teams and industry “bringing this full ecosystem here, elevating care to national levels here in Warsaw.”
He thanked Parkview and its leadership team as the collaboration would not have been possible without shared vision, strategic goals and execution.
“These facilities have all been focused around the patient to allow for seamless care right here in Warsaw, from the office to the operating room to recovery, all here for the local teams providing world-class orthopedic care for the Warsaw community,” Johnson stated.
He then thanked the leadership and management teams and the board at ONE, led by CEO Lori Pagan; Parkview teams; and the building team and planners, particularly the community of Warsaw.
Tyson Chastain, president at Innovcare, said, “We at Innovcare, which is a company I own, it’s called Innovative Health Care Real Estate, appreciate the opportunities to be involved with groups like ONE. They’re a recognized organization across the state of Indiana. We invested about $10 million, all said and done, here. We appreciate the support from (Second District) Congressman (Rudy) Yakym. I think everybody’s aware that there’s a lot of development getting ready to happen here in Warsaw. We’re obviously highly involved in the U.S. 30 Coalition, with some of the expansions with the highway interstate.”
He said they feel like Parkview, ONE, Robinson Construction, MKM and Lake City Bank “all saw the vision here, on what’s happening in Warsaw. We think it’s a new day for Warsaw. There’s a lot of opportunities coming.”
Pagan echoed what Johnson and Chastain said.
“I think the star of the show will be this office,” she said, then pointing out April Davis, who leads the office. “I want to thank Parkview for helping us bring this vision to life.”
After the ceremony and ribbon-cutting, Johnson said ONE is an orthopedic surgery group.
“It’s one of the largest groups in the Midwest. We provide full sub-specialized orthopedic surgery care. And so from all specialities from hip and knee replacement, spine surgery, hand surgery, sport surgery, foot and ankle surgery,” he said. “Patients can come here to our office to see all of our specialists, and then surgery is right next door at the surgery center. That provides for the seamless care. So patients now in Warsaw have full access to our sub-specialized team. This is the first time in the history of Warsaw that there’s been a fully dedicated fully sub-specialized orthopedic team.”
ONE has over 100 providers, he said, so many of its surgeons and advanced practitioners will be working at the Warsaw facility. ONE is the orthopedic provider for Parkview.
While the surgery center has already been opened, the ONE office in Warsaw opened this week, with its first patient at 10 a.m. Monday. Pagan said the office currently has 12 employees.
“The main goal is to provide world-class orthopedic care, fully sub-specialized care, here in Warsaw,” Johnson stated.
Future plans for the campus are for it to grow and expand medical care for the community.
“Of course, collaborating with local industry, obviously, so the ecosystem of orthopedics is - not only the care but the interactions with the hospitals, the interactions with the industry partners, with Warsaw, obviously, as one of the leaders in the world for that - so we’ll collaborate with everyone, particularly with our research team and data team and education teams to provide national-level care here,” Johnson stated.
Yakym said, “Warsaw is a booming community and it is the orthopedic capital of the world, and to have the investment that’s taken place here and the access the community will have to healthcare because of this investment, I thought it was worth our time to come down and support the event here today.”
Chastain mentioned “a lot of development getting ready to happen” in Warsaw.
Asked about that, Yakym said, “Of course, we’re always working with a number of entities locally here to help facilitate some of the construction and development that’s here because, again, Warsaw is one of the greatest communities in the world, and being the orthopedic capital of the world, it’s important that we provide access, in this community, for the people of the community and there’s been so much construction that’s going on around here, and it’s a great thing for the local community. So we’re excited, not only for the construction today, but hopefully more to come soon.”
